   The capelobo is a monster from the Par á and Maranh ã o regions of Brazil. It is mainly believed by the Christianized indigenous population. The name comes from the Guarani word cap ê , meaning bend legged or lame, and the Portuguese lobo, meaning wolf. The capelobo is a vampiric monster that drinks both blood and brain matter with its long snout. It starts out as an elderly indigenous man, if he dies without a Christian burial or becomes lost in the forest he will transform into the capelobo. This transformation is permanent and he can never return to his human form. The capelobo looks like a werewolf with an anteater’s head and clawed forelimbs. It also has perfectly round horse hooves, which look the same back to front. This makes it impossible to know what direction the capelobo was travelling when trying to track it.   Many people know about the chupacabra. It’s one of the most popular alien or cryptid monsters. Yet the chupacabra is so regionally varied it’s practically different monsters in different regions. In mainland USA the chupacabra is known as a mutant hairless canine creature, often with spikes and vampiric fangs. In Puerto Rico where the chupacabra originated from it’s a very different monster. The creature is a humanoid reptilian thing, shaped like a bulkier grey alien with scaly reptile skin, glowing red eyes and spines down its back. Yet even within Puerto Rico there’s a different, even stranger, chupacabra, which was seen in a one off encounter.   A striga is a vampire like demon from Slavic and Polish folklore. It has owl like features, such as feathers, golden eyes and bird like talons. It can also shape shift into an owl at will. Strigas are strictly nocturnal, coming out at night to feast on the blood and flesh of the living. A striga comes from a person, usually female, that was born with two souls. This person will have various signs that they have two souls, usually having duplicated body parts, such as having two rows of teeth or two heartbeats. If this person is found out in life, they will be cast out of society to go die in the wilderness. If they're not found out they will continue to live like a normal person while they're still alive. On death one of the souls moves onto the afterlife while the other stays trapped in the body. When this happens the stiga begins to transform.   The zburator is a type of demon from Romanian mythology. The name means flyer. The zburator's true form is that of a wolf with draconic features and bat like wings. It's often depicted with fire as well, either being surrounded by flames, or having a mane or tail of flame. This is especially prevalent when the zburator flies across the sky at night in the form of a shooting star. The zburator is capable of shape shifting. Most often it takes on the form of a handsome young man. It uses this capability to visit women at night and temp them into sleeping with it. The zburator most favours women who are engaged, or otherwise in a relationship but not married yet, and takes great delight in convincing these women to cheat on their partners. Zburators are often invisible to all except the women they pursue. Zburators drain their victim's life force through sex, much like an incubus. This leaves their victims tired, pale and anemic.   The jimplecute is a vampiric reptile from Ozark legend. It is a rarely heard of fearsome critter and shouldn't be confused with the gowrow, the more famous reptile from the region. There are two different descriptions of the jimplecute. The original appearance is of a long serpentine reptile, yet still baring short legs. It has skin the texture of dead leaves, which allows it to hide better in the forests. It even had the chameleon like ability to change color, so to blend in with leaves of different seasons. This jimplecute is able to wrap around its victims like a python to immobilize them while it feeds on their blood. The more modern version of the jimplecute is of a vampiric dinosaur, usually something similar to a raptor.   Kamaitachi are invisible spirit weasels that ride whirlwinds and cut up victims in their path. It's debated whether the kamaitachi are invisible because they exist in the spirit world invisible to the human eye, or if they move so quickly they can't be perceived. Kamaitachi look like Japanese weasels but with sickle limbs and hedgehog like spikes on their back. Kamaitachi attack in threes. The first one slices the victim's legs and knocks them to the ground. The other slices up the victim, giving them thousands of cuts in a single second. The third applies a salve that heals the victim, ensuring none of the wounds are fatal. This leaves the victim knocked to the ground with scrapes and scratches but no serious injuries. It's said the kamaitachi do this to collect human blood, either to drink it or use it for magic. There are many region beliefs about the kamaitachi. In the Shin'etsu and Tohoku regions the kamaitachi take offence to people desecrating calendars. ...

  The manananggal is a vampiric monster from the Philippines. It is most often found in the Visayan region of the country. The manananggal is found both in older folk lore and modern cryptid reports. It is typically seen in rural areas, flying over rice fields and small villages, and it's believed that city lights may harm the monster, as does daylight. Manananggals are flying human torsos. They are almost always female. During the day manananggals are attached to a set of legs and hide their wings, blending in with the human population. At night they go through a transformation, growing bat wings, long claws and a proboscis like tongue, and separating their torso off from their hips and legs. The head, arms and torso then fly off into the night with their bat wings to find victims to consume. Manananggals only have power at night in the darkness.   The Snallygaster is a monster that sits somewhere between lumberjack folklore and actual cryptid. In spite of it's ridiculous appearance, rivalry with another monster, and humorous stories, people have reported seeing it in earnest, some sightings being as late as the 1930's. The Snallygaster originates near the South Mountain in Maryland, but sightings and legends of it range as far away as West Virginia and Ohio. The Snallygaster looks like a cross between a bird and a dragon. It has large horns on its head. The Snallygaster's strangest and most notable features are having octopus like tentacles and a single glaring eye. Other than this short description the Snallygaster's appearance can varying greatly. Sometimes it has a set of front legs, other times it only has back legs like a wyvern.
