Rare Monsters

  Guissepe Zitella and his family were on an outing together in Pettorano sul Gizio, Itally. It was June 20 th , 1993. Mr Zitella was there with his wife Concetta, and his brother and his family. Mr Zitella was a retired air force officer. One article says he was a marshal, while another says he was a non-commissioned officer, so who know what his rank actually was. They were sitting at a restaurant patio when the brother’s wife saw something fly by, about 100 meters away, over some short trees. She pointed it out to the rest of the family. To Mr. Zitella, it looked like a balloon, a large one that would usually be won at a carnival. Mr Zitella decided to chase after the balloon and capture it for his nephew.  The Alzada anomalies are one of the most bizarre and over the top cases of high strangeness. It happened during the month of July, 1974, in the unincorporated community of Alzada, Montana. A man and a woman, their relation not specified, were hunting for some caved used by ancient Native Americans. They were search for artifacts, although their intent for the artifacts and the legality of their hunt was never specified. The report was originally submitted to MUFON, but languished in obscurity. Alzada itself could barely be considered a community. In modern times it’s home to less than 30 people, with only slight more in the seventies when this took place. The landscape itself is semiarid ranch land and bad lands, filled with rough terrain and canyons. The two of them were staying in a rented cabin while they were on their search in Alzada.   Many people know about the chupacabra. It’s one of the most popular alien or cryptid monsters. Yet the chupacabra is so regionally varied it’s practically different monsters in different regions. In mainland USA the chupacabra is known as a mutant hairless canine creature, often with spikes and vampiric fangs. In Puerto Rico where the chupacabra originated from it’s a very different monster. The creature is a humanoid reptilian thing, shaped like a bulkier grey alien with scaly reptile skin, glowing red eyes and spines down its back. Yet even within Puerto Rico there’s a different, even stranger, chupacabra, which was seen in a one off encounter. In October of 1973, Hector Jusino and his friends drove out to El Yunque National Forest for a camping trip. They were 16 at the time, and experiencing their first real freedom to be out on their own for the night.   On November 14th 1974, a fireball fell from the sky near Bald Mountain in Lewis County, Washington. The impact site stayed inexplicably lit even after the fireball hit the ground, not usual behavior for an ordinary meteorite. It was seen by several people in the nearby town of Chehalis. Things would go from unusual but explainable to outright strange three days later. On November 17, Ernest Smith saw a strange alien creature while he was out deer hunting on the slopes of bald mountain. He said it was the size and shape of a horse. It had a football shaped head with insect like eyes and a beak like mouth. The creature was covered in scales. It had four tentacle-like legs that even had suckers on the underside of them. The whole beast glowed green.  While researching this beast I found conflicting descriptions on whether it had one or two antenna like protrusions from its head.   What follows is a report of a cryptid or alien creature that feels oddly connected to the previous entry of this blog. Yet the only thing that connects them is the cephalopod appearance of the creatures, and that both stories took place in Spain, albeit on opposite sides of the country.  In the summer of 1961 Arquimedes Sanchez and an unnamed coworker were driving through the Basque Mountains in the province of Vizcaya. They were hauling construction equipment, driving along the road at night. However the two of them knew the route well and had done this run many times before.  They were nearing their destination at Puerto de Barazar when an alarmingly strange creature climbed over the embankment on the side of the road and ran in front of the truck. It was an octopus like being covered in rusty red hair.   On August 16, 1968, in the Spanish countryside near Tivissa, John Mateu, an ordinary farmer, was going about his morning routines. It was 6am and the sun had just risen over the horizon. On a nearby hill some lights caught John Mateu’s eye. He assumed this was someone having car trouble and went up the hill to help them.  When Mr. Mateu reached the top of the hill he saw a dome shaped UFO, which he described as shaped like ‘half a watermelon’. The lights were coming from the flat bottom of the spacecraft, which hovered only 4 feet off the ground.  While observing the UFO Mr. Mateu noticed two creatures came running for the UFO. He described them as having bulbous bodies that stood on top tentacles, somewhat like an octopus. However they had grimacing faces instead of just a pair of eyes on their fronts.   The bat beast of Kent was a vaguely mothman like cryptid seen in the English county of Kent. The bat beast was seen in 1963, three years before the infamous events that took place in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The incident took place near the Saltwood forest, which are known for paranormal strangeness before the incident. The incident being alternately known as the Saltwood ghost and the Hythe mothman, after the nearby village of Hythe. The bat beast overall resembles mothman, but completely lacks a head, eyes or any facial features. It's body is egg shaped and covered in black fur. The wings emerge from the shoulders in place of arms. Oddly the creature also has webbed feet at the end of human like legs. The creature was approximately five feet tall. On November 16 th , four teens identified as John Flaxton, Mervyn Hutchinson and their girlfriends, who remained unnamed through the follow investigation, were walking home along Sandling Road, from a party.   Back in my introductory post I said I would cover cryptids too, and I've yet to do that. So it's about time I covered something on the forteans side of things. On July 2 nd , 1954 Candian Italian miner, Ennio La Sarza witnessed a strange object in the sky outside Garson Ontario, a small nickel mining town near Sudbury. The incident happened at 5 pm that day, and in the northern latitude of Garson days last long into the evening, so there was still ample daylight at 5 pm. Shortly after the object appeared it hurtled town towards the ground, faster than any jet, La Sarza reported. Yet before it crashed into the ground it slowed down, deployed its landing gear and landed gently. La Sarza described the space craft as being roughly spherical in shape, 25 feet in diameter and having a circle of port hole windows encircling it's middle.
