Ichimokuren

Image
Ichimokuren is a local weather god from Mount Tado, Japan. He has many different forms, either a dragon with one glaring eye in the middle of his forehead, or one working eye and one destroyed eye. Or he can appear as a single eye peering out from the sky, or he can appear as a flying fireball. Ichimokuran is known for creating devastating storms, which are capable of knocking down buildings, capsizing boats and throwing people into the air. It was believed that when he left his home in mount Tado to cause stores then black clouds would form around the mountain. People built a shrine to Ichimokuren there to pacify him. His shrine was built with no doors so he could come and go as he pleased. In modern time Ichimokuren has appeared in many video games and animes, usually in his floating eye form. Alzada Monkey Spider

Image
The Alzada anomalies are one of the most bizarre and over the top cases of high strangeness. It happened during the month of July, 1974, in the unincorporated community of Alzada, Montana. A man and a woman, their relation not specified, were hunting for some caved used by ancient Native Americans. They were search for artifacts, although their intent for the artifacts and the legality of their hunt was never specified. The report was originally submitted to MUFON, but languished in obscurity. Alzada itself could barely be considered a community. In modern times it’s home to less than 30 people, with only slight more in the seventies when this took place. The landscape itself is semiarid ranch land and bad lands, filled with rough terrain and canyons. The two of them were staying in a rented cabin while they were on their search in Alzada. The strangeness started as they returned to the cabin after a fruitful days search around the caves. The first signs of something wron...

Ziz

Image
The Ziz is a giant bird from Jewish mythology. It also appeared in earlier versions of the bible, but has since been edited out. The Ziz was one of the archetypal animals, like the Leviathan and Behemoth. As Leviathan was the king of the sea creatures and Behemoth the king of the beasts, Ziz was king of the birds. The Ziz was said to look like a gryphon. Its exact appearance beyond that is left vague, other than its great size, which is discussed in two stories. One story said there were some sailors who saw a giant bird standing in the water when they were out at sea. The water was only ankle deep on the bird, and it was so massive its head towered into the heavens. The sailors assumed the water must be shallow there where the bird stood, so they planned on bringing their ship ashore and swim in the water. God called out to the sailors and told them, “Do not stop there. That bird is the mighty Ziz, who towers above all beings. The water there is so deep once a carp...
