Chicago Birdman

 




Most people have heard of the Chicago mothman sightings that happened between 2011 and 2018. Occurring among those events was as strange variation of flying humanoid. This isn't that surprising however, as the original Point Pleasant mothman flap involved many strange sightings of UFOs and creatures besides just the mothman itself,


This sighting happened in 2015 in Howard Heights Illinois, a small town located near Chicago. Greg, no last name given, was coming home at 1:30 am,  from a late shift at work. He first spotted the monster when he pulled into his driveway. The creature was standing motionless in his backyard. 


Overall the creature looked similar to mothman. It was black all over and had wings instead of arms, with an overall human frame. Although the body was  disproportionately small and its head disproportionately big. The creature had an elongated snout that tapered down to a point, similar to the cartoon characters in the old Spy vs Spy comics. It also had black beady eyes that shined in the light, but were not red or self luminous like mothman’s. The creature stood hunched over like a sprinter about to start a race. Gred said the creature looked slightly smaller than the average person, but this may be caused by it hunching over and it could be unusually tall like mothman is typically described as. 


Greg quickly fled his car and ran up the stairs to his second story apartment. Although once inside he felt much more calm. Greg looked out the window and saw the creature was still standing in the backyard in the same position as when he first saw it. The only movement from the creature was to turn its head to stare at Greg through the window. 


Greg went about his normal routine. Occasional checking out the window to see if the creature was still there. Each time it was. Greg had this inexplicable feeling that at some point the police or someone would drive by and scare the creature away. Although Greg admits that his small town is very quiet at night and few people are out, so he didn’t know why he would think this. Eventually Greg just went to bed. 


In the morning Greg checked again and the creature was now gone. He went out to his backyard to see if the creature had left any traces of its presence, but it had not. 


Looking back on the situation Greg admits the way he felt and reacted was highly unusual. He says he should have been more frightened at the time, and looking back on events he’s still shaken by what happened. Greg said the decision to go to bed while the creature was still lurking outside was very strange and unnerving to him. Greg also doesn’t understand why he didn’t call the police or take a picture of the creature. Those thoughts had occurred to him at the time, but somehow he felt the situation would resolve itself and he shouldn’t do those things. Greg said it was almost like the creature had some supernatural influence over him. It’s actually fairly common for people to act unusually during paranormal events and question their behavior later. 


This case is yet another example of the strange diversity of humanoid flyers seen in Fortean cases.

Nguruvilu

  The nguruvilu is a monster from Mapuche legend in Chile. It looks like an elongated fox, which can coil around like a snake. It's still fur covered like a fox. It has long sharp claws. The name nguruvilu means fox snake in Mapuche. The nguruvilu lives an amphibious life in rivers and can hide itself in the form of common water creatures.   The ophiotaurus was a monster who's front half was that of a bull, with a snake's tail replacing the back legs. It's only known appearance was from Fasti by Ovid. Although he's retelling a story from the lost Greek poem Titanomachia. The ophiotaurus was a primordial being existed at the beginning of time when the world was forming. At that time animals were not fully formed and so had miss matched parts from the wrong species. The ophiotaurus, as well as the other first animals, were born from the goddess Gaia without a mate. The bull was so toxic that its flesh could kill any being. If its entrails were burned (such as was done in ritual sacrifices) then the smoke would kill the gods.
